Entry #6 Owning a puppy is a nightmare
It seems like everyone I talk to wants a puppy, but let me tell you, they are a handful.
Puppy’s take up a lot of your time, so if you don’t have much of it I suggest you don’t buy one. My wife insisted we get a puppy after the birth of our son so they could grow up together and be best friends. I raised two puppies before I met my wife so I knew it wouldn’t be easy and was totally against it. In fact I actually cringed at the idea, but we compromised and got one (happy wife, happy life is so true). Ever since we brought this loving menace of a puppy home, our lives have irrevocably changed. Our dog, which I do love trust me, has taken it upon herself to make sure we have all of the newest things for the house. She does this by destroying everything in sight if she’s left alone for any
amount of time.
These aren’t our dogs, but the results are pretty much the same. I can say, we have experienced everything in the pictures with our pup. We were at the local grocery store for about 30-45 minutes and:
Our Doberman loves to follow me around everywhere. I guess it’s a character trait common in the breed, but I was not prepared for the level of clinginess. I basically trip over her whenever I have to move.
And when I accidentally left the bathroom door open on our first floor while upstairs doing laundry this happened:
So I will say that owning a puppy sounds fun because they are sooo cute and cuddly. They are seconds away from a disaster. Don’t forget something in another room, that’s all the time these little adorable tornados need to get into trouble. They will keep you on your toes every minute of the day, but look at them. They’re totally worth it.

This is hilarious! I'm so sorry that is your experience, we also got a puppy in our household about 1 and a half years ago. She is a full breed chow chow, she is fluffy, stubborn, and a complete diva. Meaning that she won't even pee in the rocks if it rains here in sunny AZ, she pees on the patio. But that's her only downfall thankfully! She's lazy and playful all in one, she argues with me on the daily about me telling her to stop begging, I swear she says no to me! Little stinker! By lazy, I mean if we leave the house she sleeps on the couch, we have cameras just to check on her if we take a small roadtrip up to Sedona or Dewey without her. She stays in one spot, gets down to get water or eat then back up to the couch, IT'S the cutest. Your puppy sounds ADORABLE and I would love to see a picture! I grew up with a doberman/rottweiler mix and she was my baby! Thank you for sharing this, it was a true eyeopener as we have the easiest(laziest) pup around!
ReplyDeleteHi Isaiah! Your post is so funny and I agree that owning a puppy can be a nightmare. My dog was just like the dog in the images shown because she would always get into something. Whether that be inside the house or outside she just never stayed calm. Now since she is potty trained and knows more rules; I am not as worried she's gonna make a mess.
